Late Morning

Author's Note: For those that aren't familiar with my work, Gwendolyn is one of a pair of Original Female Characters I dreamed up back in the day. Gwendolyn, also called Wendy, is Chip's younger sister, and I paired her off with Lee.

“Shouldn't you be up by now?”

I turned my head slightly to look into the crystal blue eyes of one Gwendolyn Dawn Morton. She looked over at me from her side of my bed, a crooked grin on her face. I considered that question before answering.

“I think I already I am,” I replied with a crooked grin of my own. I knew Wendy would catch the joke and couldn't help laugh as she peaked under the covers.

“So I see. I could give you a hand with that,” she suggested with a wiggle of one eyebrow. She leaned closed and locked her lips on mine. I gave into it and let the momentum carry us to the next logical step. Or rather, I would have liked to, but I had meetings, paperwork and endless reports waiting for me at the office.

Reluctantly, I pulled away.

“I have a ton of meetings this morning. I really need to be respectable today,” I said hoarsely. My body wasn't happy that I had interrupted a very natural function. I silently told my lower half to shut up.

Wendy also wasn't impressed by my logic. She was nibbling on my left ear lobe and again her low voice sounded in my ear.

“Screw respectable,” she whispered. I just shook my head. Leave it to Wen to turn everything into double innuendo.

“I have to shower,” I said, swinging my legs out from under the covers.

“You wash my back and I wash yours,” suggested my blonde bed-mate as she climbed out after me. I caught her around the waist and kissed her again.

“Sounds like a plan.”

Twenty minutes later I was trying to get dressed, tying the laces on my black dress shoes. Wendy was watching me, her long blond hair damp from our shower, those long legs of hers sticking out of the bottom of my red plaid flannel robe. She still was wearing that half smirk on her face. Wen's sense of humor escaped me some times. It was like she was in on the world's biggest secret and somehow I was part of it. Finally I couldn't stand it anymore. I pulled a tie from the top drawer and flipped up my collar.

“What's so funny?” I asked.

“Just thinking about how dead sexy you look in uniform. I like the blue better, but I'll take the khaki.h

She walked toward me and placed both hands on my chest, tip toed and kissed me again, deeply. I kissed her back, putting everything I had into it. I felt nothing else, just her, the texture of her skin, the smell of her damp hair, her taste, like vanilla on my lips and tongue. I wrapped my arms around her, lowered her to the bed. My hands moved under the flannel and she moaned under me, her muscles flexing under my touch. I felt a shiver roll over her body, and felt her fingernails prickle my back though my shirt.  Again duty was calling to me. I had to cut this short, or else I would never get to the office. I pulled back from the kiss, coming up for air. Even an experienced diver needs to breathe.

“Hold that though,” I said, setting to work with the tie again. Wendy pulled the robe back together and sat on the edge of the bed. She didn't seem mad, but rather resigned, like she knew this was going to happen. Damn, what did I do to deserve her?

I was finally dressed, and everything was finally under control. Not happy, but under control. I left Wendy with a quick kiss on the forehead and a promise to finish what we started when I got off from work. Hopefully nothing would explode and no one would try to kill me today. That would put a definite damper on my evening activities.

I was half way out the door when my cell phone buzzed. I glanced at the caller ID and recognized Chip's number. A little puzzled, I answered.

“Hey bro, what's up?”

“Lee, I hope you haven't left yet."

“I'm just about to. Why?"

“The admiral just called me to remind you that the entire Administration building, Physical Sciences, and the labs are being fumigated today."

I stopped dead in my tracks. “Fumigated? Damn, I forgot.”

“Don't feel bad. I did the same thing. Angie and Denise are working on contacting everyone. The Admifal said to consider today a freebie. I have a few things to check on. I'm going down to the dock later. What about you?"

“Yeah, I have some unfinished business. I'll catch you later. "

I hit the disconnect button and stared at cell phone in my hands. I shed the jacket, and dropped it into the chair, the phone landed with a clatter on the lamp table by the door. I stopped long enough to make sure the front and back doors were locked, then took the stairs to the bedroom two at a time.
