CHARACTER SKETCH

NAME KATYA MARCOVA

NICKNAME Unknown if any

APPEARANCE  Bombshell

HAIR –STYLE-COLOR-TYPE-TEXTURE blonde, short, but I did detect a few dark roots, so probably not a natural blonde.

COLORING fair

HEIGHT abt 5’3”

Let’s just say she’s one very attractive lady!

VOICE –ACCENT – WAY OF TALKING Russian accent, perfect English, but lacking in current ‘cultural’ trends such as ‘Surf’ talk. Did reveal lack of knowledge as far as the United States is concerned. Thought ‘Surf’ was one of the states.

FAMILY fiancé’ (died in Diving Bell accident) any others uknown

CONNECTION TO ME Guest aboard Seaview for scientific survey

BEST FRIENDS/ENEMIES Aloof, antagonistic ‘colleague’, but I believe she left Seaview with a slightly better view of me, Seaview, America, and of course, Lee, who’s courage and ingenuity in our rescue (from the diving bell having been swallowed by a whale), still defies description.

FEARS/PHOBIAS Dying inside the stomach of that whale. She was rather sarcastic about the possibility of Crane ‘sending  a squad of volunteers into the belly of a whale’ to rescue us, but that’s just what he did! You should have seen the look on her face!

QUIRKS None that I’m aware of.

CHARACTER FLAWS Opinionated, with the ‘I know what’s best’ attitude.

FAVORITE EXPRESSIONS/ TYPICAL GESTURES Didn’t see any.

CHILDHOOD/TEEN MEMORY None

ROLE MODEL For Marine Biologists

TEN WORDS TO SUM UP WHAT I THINK OF THIS PERSON

At first I didn’t like her at all. But being stuck with her in the close quarters of the bell, reinforced that first impressions aren’t always correct. I found her even more irritating ! But I did learn that she had a life outside of science. And after our rescue, she seemed almost nice.

TEN WORDS HOW THIS PERSON AFFECTED MY LIFE

You might say I gained ‘illumination’ that even our political enemies may have been innocent of their beliefs, their government’s views forced down their throats since childhood. I guess you’d say she’d been brainwashed in a way.

WHAT I’D SAY TO THIS PERSON IF WE MET TODAY

Would you like to help me track a new species of whale we discovered? Just kidding.

WHAT I WISH I HADN’T SAID /DONE TO THIS PERSON

“Lee’s not married or going steady with anyone that I know of.”

(Lee spent the rest of the trip home, trying to avoid her!)
