Has 1 dog, (breed unknown), 2 parakeets, and 1 parrot (a gift from Lee, who stole, er..purloined it from the jungles of the Amazon –I won’t even begin to go into that story, suffice it to say I was heartily glad to see the back of Lee’s feathery phonetic  friend. I won’t begin to tell you about what it kept repeating aboard Seaview either!

BEST FRIENDS/ENEMIES Pleasantly congenial

ETHNIC/CULTURAL BACKGROUND Italian

SCHOOLING Associate’s Degree in Business Administration

OCUPATIONS PRESENT-PREVIOUS Secretarial, Administrative Support Staff

HOBBIES Crochet. Especially traditional ‘granny square’s.

POLITICAL PREFERENCES Unknown

LIKES Homemade Christmas decorations

DISLIKES Being asked to make and bring coffee to me or to my guests. I learned right away after hiring her, that if I was in the mood for some coffee, to call the cafeteria. While she did, at first, make me coffee and fetch and carry for me, I could tell she was disappointed that I felt it part of her job description. That sort of thing, apparently, is sexist and borders on gender discrimination. Didn’t ask her since.

MOVIES/BOOKS/PLAYS ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and  ‘Kiss Me Kate’ among the old movies she loved to watch over and over (apparently really liked Howard Keel from the old silver screen, and she was quite a collector of Wizard of Oz stuff. As long as she kept the damn knickknacks out of the office, it was fine by me when she dressed up as Dorothy, Glenda the Good, or even the Wicked Witch of the West for the NIMR Halloween parties. Brought her dog to them as ‘Toto’.

FOODS Lasagna, Calamari

SPORTS Ice Skating. Actually got a spot in the Jr. Olympics before her family moved to Santa Barbara from Chicago when she was 11, but had to pull out due to an ankle injury. Said it was actually a blessing in disguise as she’d been getting a swelled head.

FEARS/PHOBIAS That one day she may have to make the arrangements for my burial.

QUIRKS None that I know.

CHARACTER FLAWS Too business like at times. Can’t or won’t share in some of my joking around.

FAVORITE EXPRESSIONS/ TYPICAL GESTURES Twirling her hair in her fingertips when nervous or when flirting. Not with me, but with Lee. All the girls, er, feminine staff flirted with Lee. Drove him nuts at times, loved it at others. I guess a lot depended on his mood.

CHILDHOOD/TEEN MEMORY None

ROLE MODEL Yes, for Admin Staff.

TEN WORDS TO SUM UP WHAT I THINK OF THIS PERSON

Professional, indispensable for smooth running of NIMR. I have no idea who’s in charge now. I’m kept pretty much out of things now, Doc’s orders.

TEN WORDS HOW THIS PERSON AFFECTED MY LIFE

Took care of all the pesky details running NIMR so I could concentrate on the expeditions, experiments, etc.

WHAT I’D SAY TO THIS PERSON IF WE MET TODAY

Thank you for being the best.

WHAT I WISH I HADN’T SAID /DONE TO THIS PERSON

Did that sweater shrink? (Okay, I used bad judgment. How was I to know she gained a few pounds. I thought she’d had the dryer on too hot.)
